Facts About Face Wash

Cleansing face is the first and one of the important step in skin routine. But do you know certain facts about face wash? Though face wash aimed at removal of excessive oil and dust from our face, it should not remove natural oils, which keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Harsh face washing can zapped out all natural oil, leaving behind dry, dull and lifeless skin. Dry skin generally does not tolerate any active on it, and hence consider as irritated skin. How to select your face wash?

Before selecting your face wash, you should know your skin type. Always prefer a gentle face wash. Face wash with actives is not great choice as we keep facewash hardly for a minute over face. Your skin behaviour may change as per season. Change your face wash accordingly, if you notice a change in your skin behaviour.

Face wash or face cleanser?

The answer to this question is hidden in your skin type. Cleansers are gentle on face as they are less foaming and hence have less drying effect on skin. They are suitable for all skin types including sensitive ones. In contrast, face washes are more foaming, hence have more drying effects and are suitable for oily skin type only.

How frequently to wash face?

Irrespective of your skin type and skin concern, you should wash your face only twice a day. Do not overdo it, as it can lead to dryness and sensitive skin. In between, you can splash water over your face. But do wash your face after working out and swimming.

Steps to wash face:

  • 1. Gently splash lukewarm water over your face.
  • 2. Take a pea sized amount of face wash/ cleanser.
  • 3. Use fingertips to apply face wash/cleanser.
  • 4. Don’t forget your neck and jaw.
  • 5. Resist the temptation to scrub.
  • 6. Wash your face with lukewarm water.
  • 7. Gently pat it dry with a clean soft cotton towel.
