New Year Skin Care Resolution

Every upcoming year, we make few new year resolution, to bring certain good changes in our life and to make it more better. Do you want to try something new this year? What about setting resolutions about your skin care? Being a largest organ of the body, our skin is most presentable organ too and at the same time, most often exposed to environmental insult like pollution, sunlight etc. Beauty trends come and go, but smooth, shiny, glowing and healthy skin always in. why not to reevaluate our skin care routine and set new goals to have healthy skin forever.

  • Moisturizer regularly – Moisturizing your skin is integral part of your skin routine. Irrespective of your skin type, it is mandatory to use moisturizer as per your skin type. For oily skin you can go for light-weight, water-based, oil controlling moisturizer while for dry skin oil-based creamy moisturizer could be a good choice. You should change your moisturizer according to the season to make your skin accommodate with it. Moisturizer also plays an important role in acne-prone, oily skin as if selected properly it helps to control oil secretion. Moreover, most of the anti-acne product can make your skin dry. For dry skin, moisturizer plays a vital role in skin care routine. Dry skin can not tolerate most of the skin care product and also developed fine lines and wrinkles early. Like face your body also needs to be moisturised on regular basis.

  • Do not skip your sunscreen – Sunscreen is one skin care products with vast advantages. It protect your skin from harmful rays of sunlight, preventing tanning and further exacerbation of existing pigmentation. It also provides anti-aging benefits with delayed onset of fine lines and wrinkles. You should apply sunscreen on each and every day being it rainy or sunny! Go for broad spectrum, tinted sunscreen rather than going for high SPF. Do repeat the application of sunscreen every 3-4hourly and more frequent if you are out on beach. Only the application is not important, but applying it in sufficient quantity also makes a lot difference.

  • Keep your skin routine simple and follow it rigorously – Applying too many skin care products does not ensure a healthy, glowing skin. In fact a simple skin routine with selected ingredients can do wonder for your skin! Too many actives, such as alpha or beta hydroxy acid, retinols, can disrupt your skin barrier, leaving skin dry, red, itchy and sensitive. Overdoing can harm your skin, as your skin does not get enough time to heal itself. Being regular with your skin routine is the key for healthy, glowing skin forever!

  • Do not sleep with makeup – Night skin routine is integral part of skin routine as skin heals at night. Sleeping with makeup interfere with skin healing. With make up on, skin can not breath properly, pore may get clogged and you may develop signs of aging early. If your skin is oily, go for micellar water to remove your make up and if your skin is dry, then oil-based make up removal or make-up removal balm will suit you best. After make-up removal, use gentle face-wash and lukewarm water to clean your face.

  • Do consult dermatologist for expert opinion – For any health issue, we always feel necessary to take expert advice, but when it comes to skin and hair issues, we look on social media, or seek advice from friends/relatives. Every individual has different skin type and different severity of the same concern. The medicine, which suits your friends/ relatives may not suit you and you can end up with some adverse reactions!
