After any in-clinic skin procedure, your skin may become extra sensitive for few days and it is important to take care of your skin to avoid complication like pigmentation, excessive dryness, redness etc. Follow these simple tips to boost advantages of any skin procedure.
1. Icing can help -Do not wash your face on the same day. Do icing if advised by your dermatologist. Apply lot of moisturizer at night before going to bed. Shift from gel based moisturizer to cream based.
2. Intensify your morning routine- Next day onwards, follow your am skin care routine as usual, which usually contain gentle face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen and active like niacinamide or vitamin C. Morning routine is all about to protect your skin from sunlight, pollution, dust. As your skin become sensitive after procedure, you should reapply moisturizer and sunscreen every 2-3hourly. If you are using any AHA or BHA like glycolic acid, salicylic acid or lactic acid in your am routine, you should discontinue their use.
3. Skip night routine – you should skip your night routine and apply only hydrating moisturizer at night. Start your night routine 2 days after your dryness completely settle.
4. Restrict your outdoor activities – you should limit your sun exposure time after skin procedure. Whenever out in the sun, do not forget to reapply your sunscreen and use protective measures like sunglasses, broad brim hats or using scarf around your face.
5. Avoid potential irritants – avoid steam, sauna, parlour procedure, home remedies, DIYs or any other active on your face beside the prescribed ones.
